Known for its untouched beauty and vibrant underwater ecosystems, Watamu Marine Park is a true paradise for ocean lovers. Located around 120 kilometers north of Mombasa, this UNESCO Biosphere Reserve covers an area of approx. 10 square kilometers and is home to some of Kenya’s best-preserved coral reefs. With over 600 species of fish, countless marine creatures, and rich biodiversity, Watamu offers an excellent opportunity for snorkeling and diving enthusiasts. The waters here are home to the endangered sea turtles, manta rays, whale sharks, and a variety of colorful fish.
The park’s coral gardens are alive with vibrant colors, and the rich biodiversity extends beyond the ocean (Watamu’s beaches are equally breathtaking). Therefore, if you’re interested in relaxing on the sand, indulging in a boat tour to spot dolphins, or diving into crystal-clear waters, Watamu is a place where the wonders of the sea come to life.
For a break from the water, Watamu’s surrounding area offers idyllic beaches, charming villages, and a laid-back vibe perfect for unwinding.
