The 29th UN Climate Summit began on November 11 in Baku, #Azerbaijan. This summit has focused a lot in supporting developing nations that are facing the hardest impacts of climate change. Today, for the first time ever, marks a significant milestone, with “Climate Action in Toursim” included in #COP29 as one of the main agendas. This new initiative aims to bring attention to tourism’s role in climate action globally🌎. The goal is to promote #sustainable tourism practices, help countries meet climate goals and show how tourism can support climate resilience. Today’s discussion will include important topics like reducing emissions in tourism, promoting eco-friendly travel, and how tourism can contribute to global climate finance. High-level meetings on urbanization, green construction, and transport will also take place. The COP29 MAP Declaration for Resilient and Healthy Cities and the COP29 Declaration on Enhanced Action in Tourism will be launched to focus on taking real steps to tackle climate challenges. 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗲𝘁: Nia Adventures’ 𝗘𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 Nia Adventures is deeply committed to both environmental conservation and empowering communities. Through our partnership with Involve the Children, we aim to address the dual challenges of climate change and education in rural Kenya. In many of these areas, children face significant obstacles such as food insecurity, poverty and limited access to quality education. Environmental degradation only worsens these conditions, leaving families struggling to survive. Involve the Children tackles these issues thro’ engaging children directly in conservation activities like tree planting. This initiative instills essential values such as responsibility, patience and respect for nature while also empowering them with the tools to fight climate change. Beyond environmental impact, the program addresses economic barriers by providing incentives linked to the children’s tree-planting efforts. These incentives, such as financial aid and school supplies, enable children to continue with their education, something many would otherwise not have access to. Families & communities are also involved, creating a collective effort towards a greener, more sustainable future. As a tourism industry player, we recognize the urgency of protecting our planet. In recognition of our commitment, we were honored to receive a certificate from Involve the Children, acknowledging our unwavering support and commitment to combating climate change. We will continue supporting them for their primary goal forms part of our #CSR objectives. Their focus on environmental conservation and providing educational opportunities for disadvantaged children ensures that the next generation is equipped with the knowledge, resources and opportunities to thrive and protect the planet.
